The Dickinson and McDonald families wanted to have their portraits taken in the snow over the holidays. We all live in a subdivision called Forest Lakes which is where my husband and I are Durango CO Photographers. The Dickinsons and McDonalds are all related.
Where we live, there is an old tractor sitting near the entrance and someone puts a Santa Claus dummy on the tractor every year. This was perfect for our first portrait location. We had to use a shovel to dig a path to the tractor because the snow was so deep.
The Dickinson’s consist of husband, wife, and doggie. The McDonald family consists of husband, wife, and two teen daughters. We all got pretty cold, but it was still a lot of fun. The poor doggie is on the elderly side and wasn’t really enjoying any of this. He stayed in the car when we went to the second location.
The second location is one of my favorites. There are some rocks where people can sit, and some beautiful mountains in the background. We did portraits of the entire group, each family, each couple, and the girls by themselves. When we do family portraits we usually like to go to 3 different locations, but they were cold and were extremely happy with the images that we had captured of all of them.
They each ordered a framed canvas wall portrait, and the McDonald family ordered a tryptich which is a framed portrait with mom and dad in the middle and a girl on each side with a mat dividing each of them.
Here are some of their images. Enjoy!
